King George Island, Antarctica

What

Trekking & Snowshoeing

The Wharton Antarctica Leadership Venture is a week-long exploration of King George Island - the unofficial capital of Antarctica and the largest of the South Shetland Islands along the Antarctica Peninsula. Around 90% of KGI is covered by glaciers, providing ample leadership challenges for the participants as they explore one of the Southern most destinations in the world.

Divided into self-sufficient teams, participants learn the lessons of leadership hands-on, in a place where decision making must be rapid and the consequences are very real while reviewing the adventures of past great Antarctica explorers and leaders, including Shackleton and Scott, and learning from their hard earned lessons.

"Men wanted for hazardous journey. Low wages, bitter cold, long hours of complete darkness. Safe return doubtful. Honor and recognition in event of success."
Ernest Shackleton
