Hola!
We are pleased to report on another amazing couple days in
Atacama. The team camped two nights at Socaire canyon where we greeted
by a snow flurry...as Chester aptly said, "I thought we were in the
desert." When the brief flurry passed we were treated with beautiful
starry skies at night (albeit chilly at -9 celsius!) and perfect
conditions during the day for activities in canyon. Teams excelled
with the ropes and on the rocks. Memorable moments included Nicole's
zipline across a plunging canyon, Jenny's rapel down a vertical rock
face, and Elaine's team willing her up the toughest rock climb of the
day. The night was capped off with a Top Chef victory by Team Guapo's
delicious hot chocolate made by head chef, Greg, and teammates
Colleen, Chris M, Chris R, Diane, and Wonjoon).
We are now at Lascar Base Camp (4600m altitude) where we
will mentally and physically prepare ourselves for our summit attempt
of the Lascar Volcano.
Please keep the messages coming - they are quite a treat at the end of
a long day!
Always toasty,
The Atacama VFs
