Hi everyone,
We are now on King George Island in the south Shetland islands of Antarctica. We arrived by charter plane at around 10am, unloaded our gear and began hiking into the interior of the island. As I write this it is 8pm and still as bright outside as it was when we first arrived. We have been in view of the ocean the entire day and have seen many birds, including many penguins. The temperature is around 35 (F) 5(c) and the wind has been steadily blowing all day. The sky has remained clear and the vistas beautiful. The team is in great spirits and just finishing dinner.
